"It's not me, it's Murphy's Law"

Our first official presentation as a group was to a number of Rotarians from the Thisted and Sybthy clubs in the Nordisk Folkecenter, located in a town called Hurup. This took place on Wednesday, 5 September.

The evening began with a tour of the area, which included a number of renewable energy technologies such as windmills and solar panels. The tour was led by a very passionate and knowledgeable woman (who may or may not have taken a small liking to Neil).

We then settled in to a lovely meal overlooking a pretty magnificent fjord (tough life, isn't it!!), after which we were presented with some special troll pins by district 1440 Governor-elect, Jan Brinck.

Then, it was time for the Rotarians to be dazzled by our presentation, which consisted of an introduction to ourselves and our families, and an overview of Australia. And here is where the title of this blog begins to make sense...

You may have learnt through other blog posts so far, that Neil has kept us very entertained by his efforts in losing things, and his Hugh Grant-like charm (think Four Weddings and a Funeral). He didn't disappoint when it came to our presentation.

Firstly, the didgeridoo. Or lack thereof. Enough said there! Didn't matter too much however, as we could easily do the presentation without it.

Halfway through, when he was only trying to help by pressing play on a video, somehow he managed to first make the entire screen go black, and then to turn the computer off completely.

We finished the presentation nonetheless and at the end, when Doug was presenting us with a special team pen, Neil suddenly realized his entire hand was covered in blue ink.

I suppose in this case, bad luck did come in threes - Neil called it Murphy's Law - but no matter what it was, it kept everyone highly entertained and I think we can call our first presentation an unexpected success!

In all seriousness though, both clubs were extremely welcoming and made us all feel very at home while we were presenting to them, despite the few small hiccups (or hikke as we say here in Denmark)!!
