Official GSE starts

So today we started our real GSE adventure. We were graciously greeted by our hosts and treated to a delicious traditional Danish lunch of pickled herrings with schnapps and an open hamburger! After tasting the local cuisine and local beer, our little GSE team family parted ways to spend time with our individual host families.

My family, Per and Brigit live in a forest! Those who know me well, wouldn't be surprised to know that this excited me greatly! I had visions of exploring through the forest skipping along with anticipation that something magical was about to happen! After a little nanna nap I had the pleasure of strolling into the forest. It didn't disappoint! Deer, red toadstools...like the ones you see in books, all on moss covered ground with the sun setting behind the trees, lots of purple flowers and being dwarfed by pine trees... It was truly gorgeous!!!! I love how travelling brings out the inner explorer. I think it's because you are seeing everything for the first time and you look at things with wonder and amazement. It is this focus and view of the world that I find makes travelling so special.

After my walk I was treated to a delicious dinner followed by lots of wine and Rum and as i write this i know my head will be a little sore in the morning but I am much richer for the conversations shared with my hosts.
